Responsibilities


One of the many duties of the City Clerk is to support the citizens of Fort Morgan in the areas of licensing, publicizing meeting agendas and legal notices, processing of open records requests, Cemetery records, notarizing of documents, and the answering of routine day-to-day questions about City-wide issues.

The City Clerk also serves as the staff support for Fort Morgan’s City Council by preparing and/or processing all meeting agendas, packets, and minutes, as well as meeting packets, public notices, proclamations, ordinances, and resolutions; in addition to coordinating special events, retreats, and elections. There are several City Boards and Commissions who report to the City Council and the City Clerk is responsible for the publicizing and recordkeeping of all meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and transition of Board / Commission members.

The City Clerk also handles the City’s website updates, monthly balancing of Cemetery transactions, licensing and title records for all City-owned vehicles, as well as the recording of official documents; and serving as the City’s Official Custodian responsible for the updating, archiving, and destruction of all City policies and records, including the City Charter and Municipal Code, as prescribed by the Colorado Municipal Records Retention Schedule adopted by City Council on April 20, 1999.
