Christmas Capital Events Start Saturday, Nov. 25

Fort Morgan’s annual transformation to the Christmas Capital of the Plains will begin with a free movie at the Cover Theatre and the opening of the Viaero Santa House on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Adult Pickleball Starts Nov. 27 at Green Acres

A free pickleball open gym for adults 18 years and older will start Monday, Nov. 27, through the Fort Morgan Recreation Department at the Green Acres Elementary School gym.

The pickleball open gym will be Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. from Nov. 27 through March. All skill levels are welcome to come enjoy the fun. The event is free and no registration is required.

Ribbon Cut for New Skate Park

Fort Morgan’s new, state-of-the-art skate park is officially open after a ribbon-cutting for the facility in Brenda Joy Park on Tuesday, Nov. 21, with Mayor Ron Shaver and other city officials and staff on hand.

Trash Pickup Limited During Thanksgiving Week

Most City of Fort Morgan offices and departments will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, and on Friday, Nov. 24. As a result, the Sanitation Department will only be picking up residential trash once during the Thanksgiving week.

Any trash accumulated during those days will be picked up the following week.

Sales Tax 'Strictly for Streets' Approved by Voters

Fort Morgan voters approved an increase to the city’s sales tax rate in Tuesday’s election that will be used exclusively to improve and maintain the city’s streets and alleys.
